A durian orchard client has asked us to design a pavilion for small events like weddings and to find a solution to protect visitors from falling durians and branches.

He suggested a covered walkway, but we felt that it might negatively impact the view of the orchard. Additionally, he wanted the cover to have a minimal ground impact.

We suggested something light that does not obstruct the view of the lush orchard. Our proposed solution:

1. A steel platform with grating and perforated balustrades that blend lightly with the lush orchard background.

2. A series of striking canopies that mark the pathways and gathering spaces.

Visitors often ask the owner what these structures are for and whether they are meant to catch durians.
